Giannini Craviola CRA12S 12-String Acoustic-Electric Guitar (Made in Brazil, c. 1971–1974)

A beautifully preserved example of Giannini’s legendary Craviola design — this CRA12S 12-string, made in São Paulo, Brazil, features the distinctive asymmetrical body shape that made these guitars a cult favorite in the 1970s. Designed in collaboration with Brazilian guitarist Paulinho Nogueira, the Craviola blends classical tone with folk and pop versatility, delivering a rich, chime-like 12-string sound.

Age & Origin

  • Manufactured circa 1971 – 1974 in São Paulo, Brazil
  • “Made in Brazil – C.G.C. (M.F.) 61,196.119/001 – US Distributor: Merson Musical Products, Westbury NY”
  • The inclusion of the C.G.C.registration number and Merson distributor name confirms this early-1970s production period.

Condition & Features

  • There are cracks present in the bridge, and a decent bow on the top at the bridge. This is being sold as-is with those items in mind. It can still be tuned up and played, but the action is fairly high because of the top bow. It has been de-tuned and will be shipped that way to avoid any issues with the bridge. The bridge cracks close up a lot when no tension is on it, so it can be glued and clamped to fix those cracks.
  • Missing strap nut and 1/4" jack
  • Besides the issues listed above, this guitar is in great condition and will play great after repair
